The Lourais Dairy Agricultural Cooperative (C.R.L.) was founded on September 2, 1943, in the town of Lourais, parish of Ribeira Seca, and its first facilities were located precisely in the town of Lourais, a fact that gave rise to the name of the manufacturing unit in question. Subsequently, the factory still operated in the Travessas area, in Ribeira Seca. On March 25, 2009, the new factory was inaugurated in Silveira, parish of Ribeira Seca. It should be noted that this cooperative was created with the aim of producing cheese and butter only for the parish of Ribeira Seca.
